Rest day!!

John (my brother) sent us the words to “What’s your Name?” by Lynyrd Skynyrd this morning:

Well it’s 8 o’clock in Boise, Idaho

I’ll find my Limo driver, Mister, take me to the show……

Nine o'clock the next day and I'm ready to go.

I got six hundred miles to ride and do one more show, oh no.

We downloaded it to Raymond’s MP3 and have been playing it over and over.

Slept in and slipped into the breakfast buffet minutes before they shut it down at 10 am.  (Usually we’re at the second SAG stop by then!)  Plates were piled high with waffles, blueberry pancakes, hash browns, sausage, etc.  I’ve lost weight this week despite eating all that I can stand.  Then we went upstairs and watched Brazil/Ghana.  (The Ghanahians have been fun to watch this tournament—we are sorry to see them go.)  After some pool time and a morale call from John in Hawaii, we went to a sports bar for lunch and saw the France/Spain game.  Allez les bleus!  In the afternoon we did bicycle maintenance, laundry, and took a delicious nap.  This evening we are going to see the Boise Hawks minor league baseball team play.

Boise seems like a very nice town.   It’s a state capital, which generates some energy.  It has a nice setting, nice architecture, has some very nice old residential areas, has bike paths everywhere—I like it.

Here are our ride stats so far:

Total distance:  644 miles

Ave speed:  16.05 mph

Total elevation gain:  27,164 feet

The upcoming week is interesting.  The weather will continue to be hot.  We alternate very easy days with very long days.  In the middle we have two huge climbing days in a row as we cross the Rockies.  We have to go one day longer this time—nine days of riding till Casper, Wyoming.
