Weather:  sunny and warm, 85 degrees

Morale:  good but tiring

Daily Summary:

The song of the day is “Road to Nowhere”  by the Talking Heads.  Boy, were we ever on a road to nowhere today!  When we have a song that gets into our head like this, we attempt to sing it all day, then when we get back to the room we download it into Raymond’s MP3 and play it through his new little portable speakers that he got for his birthday.

We rolled out a half hour later than normal—at 7am this morning.  The route was mostly downhill, as you can see in our elevation profile, though from mile 50 to 70 was too flat to do us any good in the headwind that developed.  We rolled across the desolate and beautiful range of Wyoming, criss- crossing the Wind River all day (so named because of the big winds in the area).  We crossed the very desolate Wind River Indian Reservation into the town of Riverton, a crossroads town.   We got in in plenty of time to see the France-Portugal game.  What fun!  Who would have thought that France would make it to the finals?  No hoopla about it out here in Wyoming, though, I assure you!

We have one more big day tomorrow before our well deserved rest day in Casper—only 120 miles!  We leave before 6am because it will be a L-O-N-G day.

In the photos below you see some of the great scenery we passed today.  You can see the type of road we have been on:  nice highways with wide shoulders and very little traffic.  Then, I’m at the Coors drive up in Milton, Wyoming, population 44.  Finally, Christopher has a big smile on his face as he tries out a recumbent bicycle in the parking lot outside the hotel.
