Today we had a nice ride along the Erie Canal, north of the Finger Lakes, from Rochester to Syracuse. The scenery was very upstate New York, with plenty of charming villages to ride through , and nice rolling topography. The heat was awful again, and really drained our energy after about 10am. Raymond had a very low energy level all day, mine went down after the heat kicked in. We got to the hotel in the early afternoon, totally drained. So, after lunch and showers, it was time for a nap! We both fell right asleep. We were awakened by thunder a while later, and looked out the window to see a huge storm. High winds, lightening, trees down, power failure, the works. But Christopher was still out there! His plan was to ride the 62 miles to the second SAG stop. He was a few miles short of there when the storm moved in. He found shelter with the folks he was riding with, but still got soaked!
