Daily Summary:

Well, it’s kind of a rest day.  We got to sleep in until 9 when we had to load bags.  Then, a nice leisurely breakfast in the hotel.  We had 3 miles to cycle before noon, when we had to rendezvous at the ferry.  On the way there, we got a flat tire.  We fixed it, and got to the ferry, but as we were waiting to board saw that it had gone flat again!  Oh well—a good day for it!  The ferry across Lake Michigan takes 4 hours, and we lost an hour to the time change, so got in by 6pm.  (Yes, we are now in the eastern time zone!)  We spent $39 on a cabin, so had a glorious cruise.  We laid in bed, lulled by the motion of the waves, with the window open and the cool breeze blowing in, listening to the waves and drifting in and out of sleep.  Fabulous!  When we arrived, Teresa and Lily were at the hotel and we went out to a pizza dinner.  It’s quite a treat for us to get to go to dinner in a car—we usually only go as far as we can walk.  We’re up late tonight because our two guests aren’t used to lights out before 9pm.  But we’ll all suffer for it tomorrow.  We have 115 miles to do!

Our ride so far:  2556 miles

Our climbing so far:  83,000 feet

In the pictures below, you see our boat.  Then, how many people does it take to change a flat tire?  Finally, one more state closer to home!

Rest day!!
