Mileage: 75 miles  (121 kms)

Elevation Change:  5128 feet  (1563 meters)

Weather:  sunny and mild

Morale:  GREAT!

Incidents:  Christopher made the big climb

Daily Summary:

The elevation profile was for real today.  We turned out of the hotel at 7am and climbed more in the first 3 miles than we have in the last 3 weeks combined.  But the weather was perfect and the tailwind was still there, plus the scenery was absolutely beautiful.  Our route had us climbing out of the Hudson River Valley, across the rest of New York state, almost all the way across Vermont, and over two significant mountain passes.   Christopher rode from the first SAG stop, over the big pass, down to the second SAG stop—a great ride!  Raymond and I were surprised how much our nutritional requirements went up today with the increased workload.  I even took a nap this afternoon!

In the pictures below, Raymond and Christopher fuel up at the SAG stop before the big climb.  Then you see Raymond and I at the Vermont state line.  Finally, Raymond at the top of the second pass, with the “100 mile view” of the Green Mountains.
