Well, they saved the best for last! We had our biggest climbing day of the whole trip today. Not one or two big passes, but a constant roller coaster of ups and downs, three of which were over 13% grade! We were on the road at 7am, bundled up in our arm warmers for the first time since the Rockies. It was foggy and cool as we rolled across the Connecticut River into our final state and started climbing right away. The scenery was really beautiful, and as you can see on our map above, we really wound around on all sorts of teeny country roads. It was a really tough ride and our legs were dead by the end, but that’s OK, because we have only one more day! Christopher took the day off, so we saw him at the SAG stops, which he helped run.
In the pix below, you see Ray and I at the New Hampshire state line. Then, Ray and Chris at one of the very scenic SAG stops. |
